WITH A DIVERSE RANGE QUALIFICATIONS FROM A MASTERS DEGREE IN ENGINEERING, TO FULL MARKS (600/600) IN FINE ART AT A-LEVEL, AND A PASSION FOR WORKING WITH METAL, RICARDO STARTED MAKING STEEL FURNITURE AS A HOBBY, AND DEMAND FOR HIS DESIGNS AND CRAFTSMANSHIP CAME QUICKLY.
Even before graduating from university I started my first business, which rapidly grew in to a company with a large warehouse, fleet of vehicles and 20 staff members.
I had no passion for the industry that I was in, and became disillusioned with it all. The business went, and after a period of reflection I made the decision to simplify my life, and vowed to only make a living doing something I actively enjoyed. I got back to my engineering and creative roots, with a job at a steel boat builders.
It wasn’t long before I was staying late, welding together offcuts, and seeing what came. Before too long, interest in what I was making grew, word of mouth began to spread and I founded Ricardo Churchill.
